Background:
The background of this project is to provide a solution that ActionX’s customers can use to be Engage, Involve and Participate. Also, a solution that uses technology to gamify it, so as to make it suitable during any point of time for the event.

Description:
A gamified zombie themed fitness attaining chasing application. With the aim of engaging people anywhere and at any point of time, ZHASE allow users to be match within their own vicinity and be allocated with the identity of either Survivor or Zombie. This will not only enable player to socialize and meet new friends, but also to let them feel the adrenaline of either chasing or being chased by someone.

Potential Opportunities:
Since ZHASE is currently in version 1.0, thus, there are many potential opportunities to it.Since we are leveraging on a catching concept and along with the Google Map implementation, different gameplay rules and style and be easily brought into ZHASE, allowing different type of game mode that a player can select.Furthermore this concept is scalable and flexible not only to “Zombie” theme, it can be brought over to other “run” concept that ActionX have in future.

Background:
Our client for the project is Starhub. Starhub is a telecommunications company which established in year 2000. They offer a full range of information, communications and entertainment services for both consumer and corporate markets. Beside this, they also manage island wide network that delivers multi-channel. This includes HDTV, Internet TV and on demand services.

Description:
This project aims to answer the question “What makes Singapore youths happy?” by gathering the social media conversations of Singapore youths and analyzing them to find out what are the things they talk about that make them happy. By examining what youths say on social media, the project hopes to form an understanding of what are the activities that brings youths happiness, where are the places they like to hang out to be happy and so on. At the end of the project, we will be able to picture a map of the ‘happy places’ in Singapore as well as understanding how and what makes Singapore youths happy through a series of infographics.

Technology Used:
In order to achieve our objectives, there are 2 kinds of tools will be needed. Tools that help us to collect, organize, and analyze our data and tools that help us to present our findings. We will be mainly using ‘Social Express’, a professional social media tool, with the aid of other tools like ‘hashtagify’ and ‘#tagboard’ to work on our research findings. Photoshop and Illustrator will be using for visual design of the infographics. The ‘happy places’ map will be created by ‘Esri Map with Office’, this geospatial application allows us to plot out our research findings on a map and thus present our findings in a more engaging and visual way.

Potential Opportunities:
With the deliverables of this project, our client could publish the map and infographics to gain youth’s attention and loyalty. They could also use our findings to come out with promotions or business strategies in different area to cater to youth. This project could help our client in increasing the market share among the younger generations in Singapore.

Background:
Hadoop is an open source software framework for storing data and running applications on clusters of commodity hardware. It provides massive storage for any kind of data, enormous processing power and the ability to handle virtually limitless concurrent tasks or jobs. Hence, our project is to educate others on the usage of Hadoop.

Description:
Hadoop makes it possible to run applications on systems with thousands of nodes involving thousands of terabytes. Its distributed file system facilitates rapid data transfer rates among nodes and allows the system to continue operating uninterrupted in case of a node failure. This approach lowers the risk of catastrophic system failure, even if a significant number of nodes become inoperative.

Potential Opportunities:
Hadoop can be a useful framework to lower the risk of system failure.  We have taken advantage of its enormous processing power and massive storage to build a system where Hadoop can be used to show off its abilities. A system where users are able to compare between multiple targets. By using the enormous processing power and its ability to store massive data, it can source and compile data to see which target is better.

Background
The trend of online shopping has become an increasing phenomenon in today’s world, driven by the connectivity and convenience that came along with rapid technology advancement. Payment gateways play a crucial and central role in e-commerce. In the event that the payment gateway is compromised, banks are held accountable to the merchant for failure to receive the correct payment funds. Security of payment gateways is a major factor in ensuring that transactions made are genuine. However, banks are in no control of payment gateways employed by online shopping sites. Banks are concerned with the fact that payment gateways, or even the shopping site, may be vulnerable and susceptible to cyber-attacks. The problem to be discussed and further explored in this project – What can be done to help banks minimize payment processing risks stemming from vulnerabilities found in e- commerce sites & payment gateways?

Description
The solution developed, SANTA, automates the whole processing of navigating to the checkout page of an e-commerce site and detecting the various payment gateways employed by the site. SANTA would then proceed on to scan these payment gateways to identify any potential vulnerabilities which may be present.

Potential Opportunities
SANTA can be used by banks to automate this whole processing of identifying payment gateways used by an e-merchant and proceed on to check for any vulnerabilities present. This will greatly reduce the operating costs for banks as compared to running penetration tests on a regular basis.

Background:
Volunteering Hearts have all experienced volunteering for different events and most of the time we see a lack of volunteers for some events. We wanted to do something that could perhaps help more people to volunteer.

As we did our research, we found out similar solutions out there but they were either only pertaining to one type of events or they only redirected you to other sites. Which to users could be a hassle. So we approached National Youth Council and they have given us their full support with the project and this was how Volunteering Hearts became a project.

Description:
Volunteering Hearts is a mobile platform that bridges the gap between volunteers and organisation. Making it easier for people to sign up and becoming an easy avenue for organisations to market their event. In hopes that we can have more people volunteering in Singapore.

Potential Opportunities:
Through this platform we can encourage more people to become volunteers and Organisations can have much better outreach. This application can start in Singapore and grow for other countries. This is a very big opportunity for other countries to encourage volunteering and giving back to society.

Background:
Travelling has been common for Singaporeans of the 21st century. Many Singaporeans turn to social media to assist them in planning their future travels. Some of what they refer to would be travel agency websites, Facebook posts by family and friends, Instagram posts by friends, blog posts by other Singaporeans who have travelled to the particular countries or the news where they are updated on the latest happenings of the country they wish to travel to. Most of the Singaporean travelers are youths who have just graduated or families who wish to travel during the school holidays. This project is to assist Singaporean youths, families and travelers to decide on which are the most travelled and Instagrammed places overseas.

Description:
This objective allowed us to propose the solution of an article showing the top 5
Instagrammed travel destinations by Singapore Youths. The second objective of the project is to create a website where users are able to view the top travelled places by Singaporeans. Through this project, we will be able to use various social media analytic tools as well as social media platforms to assist us in our findings and final deliverables of an article on Starhub community, a website and an infographic displaying the findings and results.

Background:
Tower Defense games have existed since 1990, in the form of “Rampart”, by Atari. However, the genre was not popular until 2007, when games like Flash Element Tower Defense and Desktop Tower Defense came out. Other fairly well-known ones include GemCraft, and Plants vs. Zombies.

However, most of the popularity revolving many of these games died out fairly quickly, as the concept is usually very similar: build a Tower, fend off enemies, build more Towers, fend off more enemies, unlock better Towers, enemies throw harder and stronger monsters at you, repeat. While the games are very addicting when you first play it, after a while you’ve seen it all.

Tower Runners is our attempt at bringing forth a relatively new kind of game, dealing in both the concept of Tower Defense, and Player versus Player VS.

Description:
Tower Runners sets 2 players up in a 1 versus 1 situation. There is a “Tower” side, and a “Runner” side. At the start, players will be given time to do their own preparation, which involves changing the formation of the runner waves and placing down special runners which requires gold from the “Runner”, and Towers along a grid for the “Tower”.

After a certain amount of time has passed, the wave will begin and the runners will start appearing at the live play area and charge towards the finishing line. The towers will attack the runners and prevent that from happening. Some of the runners destroy these towers in order to limit the effectiveness of the tower formation and guide their fellow runners to safety.

The timer ticks on and the next wave will start to count down even as this happens. The faster it takes for the towers to kill all of the runners, the more time the “Tower” has in order to prepare for the next wave. On the contrary, the “Runner” can start preparing for the next wave the moment the previous wave starts.
This will continue on for 10 waves. If the “Tower” has depleted all 50 of his lives before the end of the 10th wave, the “Runner” wins. If the “Tower” manages to hold out until the end of the 10th wave, the “Tower” wins.

Potential Opportunities:
Tower Runners can become a fun and enjoyable game played by people of all ages. It can also become a game played competitively in the future.

Description:
Tour Connections Pte Ltd is a Singapore based travel agency offering tourists with attractive rates of tour packages and hotel stays in Singapore. There are also several information provided such as the attractions available in Singapore, the food, culture, various hotels and so much more which a tourist would definitely want to know more about!

We have simplified the information for travellers by categorizing and making it visually appealing. On top of that, planning can be rather tedious and exhausting. The online users can now select the places they want to go, the hotel they prefer to stay in, the basic information required and finally, click on submit to allow the friendly administrators to arrange for their desired itinerary! So easy and simple right?

It allows user to navigate easily to view various information about Singapore, such as the Hotels available in Singapore, places of attraction and some key basic information about Singapore.

Potential Opportunities
Tour Connection’s aim is not to only provide convenience to tourist in booking their trips to Singapore, but to also boost sales in the tourism industry on a long run.

Under the tutelage of Mr Chin Ying Soong, Timothy attained the Licentiate Diploma of the London College of Music for Classical Piano in 2013, and has been studying Jazz Piano since.

Timothy has had multiple experiences performing with bands as a session Pianist. Alongside performing, he has had experiences in producing shows, such as the DMAT Show V: Living the Dream.

Since starting to play the guitar at 15, Thurston has picked up other instruments like the drums and bass guitar as well, developing a well rounded musical sense. He appreciates a wide range of music from post rock, to jazz, alternative, mathcore and progressive metal. Always thinking creatively and in unorthodox ways, Thurston often finds himself filled with many unique ideas that put himself apart from the rest.

Nevertheless, Thurston enjoys writing and creating music on his own, drawing styles from various influences such as Toe, Aaron Marshall, Plini, This Town Needs Guns, and Mark Holcomb, hoping to build a repertoire to start performing with a band.

Thurston is also somewhat of a handyman and frequently engages in AV setup jobs, familiar with not just audio, but lighting and video as well. Back in the studio, Thurston is also proficient at engineering recording sessions, and is always glad to lend a helping hand.

Biography
She first started playing the clarinet when she was at the age of 13. She was in the school symphonic band, whereby she had learnt the skills, performing with the band in events and outdoor performances. When she was 15, she joined Singapore Wind Symphony (SWS) Youth Band, performing with them in annual concerts. She was the Clarinet section leader of the Youth Band from 2012 – 2015.

During the polytechnic, she started learning saxophone and played with Tacotime, a band from SP’s Record Label SPear. She also joined SP symphonic band and participated in SIBF 2014 with the band, and playing many concerts with them at Esplanade. She also guest play in various bands in their concerts.

She had also gotten her ABRSM Grade 8 in clarinet performance in 2014 and Grade 6 in Music theory in 2015. She also gives clarinet lesson privately.

She loves a huge range of genre of music from Jazz, RnB to classical music, where she draw her inspiration from bands like T-Square, Snarky puppy and Artist Khalil Fong.

Background:
It all started in the olden days, during the medieval times when they believed in magic. A small group of explorers found a crystal cave whilst they were exploring in the woods. After telling the village elders about this new discovery, the elders decided to send villagers to harvest these crystals. Many years passed before they finally knew how to harness the energy in the crystals. The town flourished from the discovery, advancing from a small backwater village to a city abundant with knowledge and energy.

Description:
Tales of Sir DeCat’ncapo – Being the only Royal Guard willing to take up the dauntless task of defending the crystal core with your life, you have set off to protect and fight against the alien horde, all by yourself. What seems close to impossible is in fact easily manageable for one like you. Take up your staff and defend the castle and the crystals!

Potential Opportunities:
